Free home STI tests

The HSE Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme (SHCPP) is piloting a free home STI testing project in partnership with online STI testing provider, SH:24.

Home STI testing pilot

The project is being piloted in Dublin, Cork and Kerry. This means that anyone with an address in these counties can order a free STI test to their home. If follow-up treatment or support is needed, this is also provided for free by HSE-funded clinics in Dublin and Cork.

There has been a huge demand for the home STI testing pilot since the service went live on 5 January. Due to this large demand, we are pausing new orders to allow the current orders to be processed and to ensure there is sufficient capacity in local clinics for service users who may need follow-up treatment or support.

The next phase of tests will be made available to order when the COVID-19 situation in hospitals has stabilised. Information on when you can order will be made available here, on sh24.ie and communicated via social media.

If you have symptoms or need urgent support, contact your local sexual health service.
